My name is Kelly Clyne AKA Rootsman Kelly. I must say that I feel honored to have been selected to represent my country at this year’s Pure Grenada Music Festival.

The following is information about myself as it relates to my singing career.

I first started singing back in the year 1980 at the tender age of ten. Two years later, in 1982, I won the Junior Calypso Competition for the first time, and again in 1983 I emerged winner.

In the years following I decided to stay out of competition, but in 2012, which was about twenty five years away from the spotlight, I made a comeback and successfully made it to the semi-final round in the Calypso Competition that year with my renditions Hypocrisy of Democracy and The Invitation .

In 2013 I made it to the finals at Dimanche Gras placing 5th in that competition with my songs “Mr. Concern and “Pay attention to my Calypso” as well as 5th place in the Independence Calypso Competition, which I took part in for the first time.

In 2014 I made it as a stand by in the Dimanche Gras producing two of my hit songs “The Same Song Again” and “Gamblers Shall Groan”.

2015 was my most successful year since my return, I placed 2nd in both the Dimanche Gras and the Independence Calypso Competitions. My calypsoes, ‘ Judicial Imbalance’ and “Fete to Fete” and for Independence “Virgin Country”.

I am now looking forward to participate in this year’ s Calypso and Independence Competitions as well The Pure Grenada Music Festival in April.
